Legacy Alternative Provision is a tailored educational service dedicated to supporting disengaged and at-risk students. We provide a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment where students from Years 5–11 can re-engage with learning, build self-confidence, and develop the skills they need to thrive—both in and beyond the classroom.
We understand that traditional educational settings may not meet every learner’s needs. Our provision is designed specifically for students at risk of exclusion, those with behavioural or attendance challenges, or those navigating complex social and emotional needs. Through personalised programmes, consistent mentorship, and access to high-quality sport and education resources, Legacy empowers students to achieve their potential.
We provide full-day placements (10:00am – 2:00pm), supported by a dedicated team of experienced educators, youth mentors and specialist coaches.

Students engage in tailored English and Mathematics sessions delivered in a way that suits their learning style—whether that’s written work, practical tasks, or supported digital learning. We follow a child-centred approach and collaborate closely with families and referring schools.
Students are provided with packed lunches, or may take part in community-based meal experiences in Hemsworth town centre, encouraging independence and social interaction.
Our afternoons focus on structured physical activity through mixed martial arts, facilitated by experienced coaches in our purpose-built Legacy MMA facility. Disciplines include:
MMA promotes discipline, structure, self-regulation and physical wellbeing, and is delivered strictly as sport and self-defence.
We pair students with mentors and coaches who match their interests, personalities, and challenges. All sessions are delivered 1:1 or in small, consistent groups. Our support prioritises:
Learning extends beyond the classroom. Students take part in regular educational visits to local museums and learning centres. These experiences enhance engagement, broaden horizons, and provide cultural and social capital.
As part of our extended care and inclusion model, every student enrolled at Legacy Alternative Provision receives a free after-school membership to our Legacy MMA evening sessions. This reinforces positive routines, community engagement, and physical wellbeing outside of the academic setting.
